Teacher Journey · Step 2 of 9
Prepare Your Documents
Before starting your PowerSchool application, make sure you have the required documents ready. Each item below links to a detailed Help Center guide with instructions, examples, and templates when available.
Most candidates spend 2–6 weeks gathering documents. Starting early with your FCE and English test can help prevent delays.
Before you start
Prepare Clear, Complete Files
Organizing your files now will make your PowerSchool application faster and help reduce follow-up requests.
Use Clear Documents
All files must be complete, readable, and free from blurry or cropped pages.
Match Your Name
Your name should be consistent across your passport, academic records, license, and employment documents.
Include Translations
Documents not written in English must include a translation in the same file.

Two Documents to Prioritize First
Your Foreign Credential Evaluation and English test are two of the first documents you'll need as you prepare your application. Starting them early can help you avoid delays later.
Foreign Credential Evaluation (FCE)
The FCE is an official report that evaluates your academic degree and converts it into its U.S. equivalent. It confirms your education level, major, and degree equivalency.
You must request a Course-by-Course Evaluation from a credential evaluation company that is a member of AICE or NACES.
FCE processing can take several weeks. The wrong evaluation type, missing coursework, or missing teaching practice information may delay your application.
English Test
You must demonstrate at least a B2 (Upper-Intermediate) level of English and communicate professionally with students, parents, administrators, and school staff.
If you do not know your current level, IAG accepts the free EF SET 4-Skills test, which you can take online.
Completing your English test early helps you understand whether you already meet the minimum B2 requirement or need more time to prepare before applying.
Your FCE and English test can take time to complete or review, so beginning them while you organize the rest of your documents can make your application process smoother.
