What is this document? #

The Professional Teaching License is an official document that proves you are qualified to teach in your home country.

Why is this required? #

For the J-1 Teacher Program, you must demonstrate that you meet the professional requirements to teach in your country.

This helps confirm your eligibility to teach in U.S. schools.

What can be used as a Teaching License? #

Option 1: Professional License / Teaching Certification #

If your country issues a teaching license, you must submit:

  • A teaching license or certification
  • A government-issued teaching credential

Option 2: Alternate Document #

If your country does NOT issue a teaching license, you may submit:

  • An official letter
  • OR a screenshot from a government or education department website

This document must clearly confirm that no teaching license is required in your country.

  • Be official and verifiable
  • Clearly show your qualification to teach
  • Match your academic background and teaching field

Language requirements #

  • Must be in English
  • OR include a translation in the same file
